John Lawrence Allen, one of the nation's leading authorities in securities law, has enjoyed a distinguished career spanning three decades as attorney, business executive, stock arbitrage innovator, published author and columnist. A former prosecutor in the Los Angles District Attorney's Office, Mr. Allen was Chairman of the Joint Committee of the Litigation Section of the State Bar of California and the Royal Courts of Justice of England and Wales, which promotes procedural reform in the courts of the United States and the United Kingdom (1996-1997).
In 1996 Mr. Allen was invited to assist the United States Permanent Select Committee on Investigations on the subjects of micro-capital stock fraud and senior abuse. Mr. Allen participated in National Association of Securities Dealers, Inc. (NASD) forums on procedural reform and has served as an arbitrator before the American Arbitration Association. Admitted to the United States Supreme Court in 1992, Mr. Allen is also admitted to practice before the California, New York and Washington, D.C. Bars.
